Inventing Reality: A Guide to Writing Science Fiction
Books I've Edited
During the past year I've proofread and edited a number of novels, short stories, nonfiction books, masters thesis papers, resumes and more. Here's a list of those books that have been published.
"Beneath Creek Waters" by Jason L. Bradshaw
In 1845, there were 200 coins born when Texas joined the United States. They were to be given to all major players that helped Texas into the U.S. These coins were loaded on to a wagon one rainy night near Dallas, Texas, and never seen again. Parks Leslie and Stan Marshall, both treasure hunters and historians, were always looking for their next big find. When the coin resurfaces after a couple of local kids stumble upon what appeared to be one in a Southeast Texas creek, it reopens Parks interest and the hunt is on. What the two did not know is that the coins had been guarded by a local family for years, and they were not about to let them go now. Ultimately, Parks and Stan have to team up with the local family to get out of a deadly situation when a gold hungry militia group enters the picture unexpectedly. Buy this book.
“The Christian Behind Closed Doors” by Daniel Capusan
Christians have slowly retreated into a life of personal practices, which they feel are spiritual in nature but actually separate them from Jesus. Some attend more church and yet are less holy. Others get more involved in ministry and become less loving. Much of this takes place because our practices, which should flow from a desire to serve God, are done to meet the requirements of our churches. Daniel Capusan addresses some traits that have a tendency of standing as a closed door between Jesus and his people. These characteristics often lead to practices that are divisive – and often destructive. These characteristics harden the hearts and make the followers legalistic and hypocritical, though they may follow God’s rules. Buy this book.
"Kami Jin" by Lloyd Kaneko
“Kami Jin” chronicles the life of protagonist, Gordon Sakata, as he describes his challenging, yet victorious life in the 23rd Century in two worlds – one a troubled life on Earth, and then later on the utopian planet of Xychron. With a global unemployment rate of 95%, Sakata returns to Earth to save those in despair and the homeless and takes them to a distant planet to life in paradise. Buy this book.
